Black Holes

A black hole is a place in space where gravity is so strong that nothing can escape from it, even light.

The outer edge of a black hole is called the event horizon. When something enters the black hole, it cannot get out.

The idea of objects with gravity so strong that light cannot escape was first talked about in the 1700s by John Michell and Pierre-Simon Laplace.
